Departmental Cut-Off Points

  • General entry minimum: aggregate 36 for WASSCE, 24 for SSSCE
  • No official program-by-program cut-off aggregates available for 2025, but historically UMaT adjusts departmental thresholds each year. For comparison, older lists referenced aggregates like 6–15 in some programs, but these likely used a different scoring metric
  • Fee-paying applicants who miss specific departmental cut-offs may still be admitted if they meet the general 36 aggregate

Recommended Application Strategy

  1. Verify Program-Specific Cut-Offs: UMaT may publish specific departmental aggregates on its portal—check directly before applying.

  2. Match Subject Requirements:

    • Engineering & Sciences: Credits in English, Math, Integrated Science + Electives (Physics, Chemistry, Elective Math, ICT)

    • Geomatic: Accepts Geography as an elective alternative

  3. Consider Mature or Fee-Paying Routes if your aggregate is between the general minimum (36) and departmental cut-off.

  4. Apply Early: Admission forms for 2025/2026 are open; deadline often extends into late 2025

Final Thoughts

UMaT is ideal for students passionate about engineering, mining, geosciences, environmental studies, and petroleum. Aim for at least 36 aggregate in WASSCE or 24 in SSSCE, with strong subject scores. If your aggregate meets the university minimum but not the departmental threshold, consider the fee-paying pathway. Stay tuned to UMaT’s official site for updates on specific departmental cut-offs and apply early to maximize your chances.
